ingredients
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup butter and lard mixture
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 4 cups sifted flour

Thoroughly mix flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt. Then cut the butter / lard mixture into these dry ingredients. Add the remaining ingredients and mix well.

Filling:
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp salt
preparation
  1. Roll first mixture and spread filling over all.

  2. Roll up like a jelly roll and slice; about 1 inch thick.

  3. Bake at 350&deb;F until lightly browned.
