This recipe goes great with Chicken Salad!

ingredients
  • 1 pkg. active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup hottest tap water
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp soda
  • 1 cup dairy sour cream
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
preparation
  1. Grease two 1-lb. coffee cans, washed and well dried.
  2. In large mixer bowl, dissolve yeast in hot water.
  3. Add 11/2 cup flour, the sugar, salt, soda, sour cream, and egg.
  4. Blend 1/2 minute on low speed, scraping bowl constantly.
  5. Beat 2 minutes on low speed, scraping bowl occasionally.
  6. Stir in remaining flour, cheese, and pepper.
  7. Divide batter between cans.
  8. Let rise in a warm place for 50 minutes.
  9. Batter will rise slightly, not double.
  10. Heat oven to 350°F. Bake for 40 minutes or until golden.
  11. Remove from pans immediately.
