ingredients
  • 3 cups rolled oats
  • 2 cups flour, all-purpose
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 cups brown sugar (can use a brown sugar substitute)
  • 1/2 cup applesauce
  • 1/4 cup margarine, softened
  • 2 cups cranberries, dried
  • 1 cup apple juice
  • 2 cups apples, peeled, cubed
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon, ground

preparation

  1. Blend first 4 ingredients; set aside.
  2. Beat brown sugar, applesauce and margarine, in large bowl, on high until smooth.
  3. Stir-in flour mixture until crumbly.
  4. Press half into bottom of greased pan; reserve other half.
  5. Bake in preheated 350°F oven 15 minutes.
  6. Place cranberries, apple juice, apples and cinnamon in small saucepan; soak 20 minutes.
  7. Boil over medium-high heat 5 minutes until tender, stirring occasionally.
  8. Spread hot fruit over crust; crumble remaining crust mixture over fruit.
  9. Bake at 350°F 20 to 25 minutes until light brown.
  10. Makes 48 bars.

Per serving (1 bar): 70 Calories; 13g Carbohydrates; 1g Dietary Fiber; 1.5g Fat (0g Saturated Fat); 1g Protein; 0mg Cholesterol; 115mg Sodium.
