List of Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp Vegetable oil
  • 1 Sm Onion, coarsely chopped
  • 2 c No-salt tomato sauce
  • 1/2 c Light molasses
  • 1/4 c Cider vinegar
  • *1/4 c Dijon mustard
  • 1 1/2 tsp Fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp Liquid smoke
  • 1 tbsp Garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp Cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 tsp Tabasco
  • **3 pn of Allspice

*Sub: 1 tbsp ground dry mustard powder, 1 tsp honey, and 1 tbsp white wine for Dijon Mustard. Thank you Cathy! Yes, Dijon Mustard is loaded with sodium. Cathy used the above substitute and said it was delicious.

  1. Heat oil is a heavy medium skillet over med-high heat.

  2. Add onion and cook until translucent, stirring occasionally.
    This should take about 8 minutes.

  3. Add all remaining ingredients and simmer until thickened, about 15 minutes.
    Stir frequently.

  4. Makes 3 cups.
